The proposed legislation includes several changes to the way leave is taken and paid.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leave entitlements under the new Bill\u2026<\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annual and sick leave would accrue in hours, starting from an employee\u2019s first day of work<br \/>\nEmployees could take part-day leave<br \/>\nBereavement and family violence leave could become available earlier in employment.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other proposed changes include\u2026<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simpler methods for calculating leave payments<\/li>\n<li class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clearer rules for determining public holiday entitlement<\/li>\n<li class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New compensation rules for casual and additional workers<\/li>\n<li class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payslips becoming a legal requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If passed, the new legislation is expected to include a two-year transition period, giving employers time to understand the changes and update their payroll processes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information about the proposed changes, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mbie.govt.nz\/business-and-employment\/employment-and-skills\/employment-legislation-reviews\/holidays-act-reform-employment-leave-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MBIE website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While there is no immediate action required, now is a good opportunity to review your payroll processes and ensure employee entitlements are being managed correctly.
