As of 1 March 2020, Inland Revenue will no longer be accepting cheques. By the end of the last financial year (June 2019), only around 5% of payments received by Inland Revenue were by cheque, so they made the call to phase them out.<\/p>\n<p>Here are five faster, cheaper and safer ways to pay your taxes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay securely by direct debit using a debit card or credit card through myIR. Login and register at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ird.govt.nz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"www.ird.govt.nz (opens in a new tab)\">www.ird.govt.nz<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Make payments using online banking \u2013 contact your bank to find out how<\/li>\n<li>Use credit or debit cards to make online payments at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ird.govt.nz\/payments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"ird.govt.nz\/pay (opens in a new tab)\">ird.govt.nz\/pay<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Visit Westpac and pay your taxes in person by EFTPOS or cash<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re overseas, pay using a money transfer service.
