Cyber-attacks and con artists could target any small business in New Zealand. Here are the latest risks:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Facebook danger<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>One sophisticated Facebook scam has ensnared 10 million users. Millions of people on the social network have been conned into handing over their account credentials.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The phishing scam, which is still active, pushes victims to a fake Facebook login page, where they are enticed to input their details. The scam began in September 2021 and remains active.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Worried about phishing on social media? Here\u2019s Facebook\u2019s advice on how to protect yourself from harm:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Don&#8217;t trust messages that:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Demand money<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Offer gifts<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Threaten to delete or ban your Facebook account<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Emails about your account always come from:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>fb.com<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>facebook.com<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>facebookmail.com<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Don&#8217;t click suspicious links:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>If you get a suspicious email or message claiming to be from Facebook, then don&#8217;t click any links or attachments.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Don&#8217;t respond to these emails<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Don&#8217;t answer messages that ask for your:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Password<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Account numbers or important personal identifying information<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Credit card information<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Email phishing<\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Cybercriminals used Covid-19 to create new scams, and more recently, the monkeypox virus was used to target unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Criminals have been creating bogus resources for businesses to \u2018learn more\u2019 about safety precautions.
